Custom design of electronic boards and hardware

Electronic design & consultancy company: schematics, PCB routing, sensor integration and energy optimization, with vision and support for industrialization.

Are you developing an electronic product or looking to improve an existing system?

Rivinnov designs custom electronic boards for embedded products:

➔ Component selection, schematic

➔ PCB routing  2 to 8 layers

➔ Integration of analog and digital sensors

➔ Food and consumption management.

We deliver a complete manufacturing package (schematics, Gerber files, bill of materials, assembly notes) and assembled and tested prototype boards.

Each card is designed from the outset to be mass-produced: components available, production constraints anticipated, target cost met.

Rivinnov designs and develops electronic systems tailored to your technical constraints and product objectives.

Microcontroller boards: STM32, ESP32, nRF52 and equivalents, from standalone sensors to machine controllers.

Acquisition chains: signal conditioning, amplification, filtering, high-resolution analog-to-digital conversion.

Power supply and energy management: converters, Li-ion battery charging, low-power modes. We routinely operate below [50 µA] in standby mode on battery-powered products.

Wireless connectivity: BLE, LoRa, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, 4G/LTE-M, with the RF part and antenna properly handled from the start.

Interface and power boards: motor control, relays, industrial sensors, RS-485 / CAN bus.

Solutions designed to be reliable, scalable and industrializable.

Our Design Process

1.
Technical specifications

Understanding your product, its fonctionalities, its constraints and its objectives (autonomie, selling price, performance, series volume, etc)

2.
Architecture and component selection

Trade-off analysis between performance/cost/availability. Verification of suppliers and components life-cycle.

1.
Technical analysis of the need

Systematical review with client before any routing.

4.
PCB routing

Compliance with 5DFM manufacturing rules), signal integrity, thermal constraints and EMC.

5.
Prototype manufacturing and assembly

Production of 2 to 5 prototype cards over 2 to 3 weeks.

6.
Bring-up and tests

Power-up, functional validation, measurements, test report.

Why work with us?

Expertise in embedded electronics

We address advanced technical issues:

  • Analog and digital signal processing

  • Signal acquisition and conditioning

  • Battery management and energy optimization

  • Communication between components (buses and protocols)

  • Design and routing of multilayer PCBs

Redesign and obsolescence management

We also support companies in the evolution and extension of the lifespan of existing systems:

  • Replacing obsolete components

  • Performance improvement

  • Adaptation to new technical and regulatory constraints

  • Optimizing bill of materials costs

  • Integration of embedded AI

A card redesign typically costs between 30 and 50% of a new design.

Preparing for industrialization

An electronic system must not only be functional, it must be ready for production.

Rivinnov integrates the following from the design stage:

  • Industrial and certification constraints

  • Choice of sustainable components

  • Optimizing production costs

  • Technical documentation

We work with industrial partners like OMICRON to support the production launch.

Mastered technologies

  • PCB design (single and multilayer)

  • STM32, ESP32, nRF52 and equivalent microcontrollers

  • Analog and digital sensors

  • Wired (UART, SPI, I2C, etc.) and wireless (BLE, LoRa, Zigbee, etc.) communication systems

  • Electronic design tools (Altium and KiCad)

Examples of projects

Rivinnov works on different types of projects

➔ Design of electronic boards for medical devices

➔ Embedded systems with integrated sensors

➔ Optimization of existing electronic systems

➔ Development of IoT solutions

FAQ

  • The design of a 2- to 4-layer microcontroller-based board typically costs between €10,000 and €20,000. A multilayer board with RF, complex power supply, or high-precision data acquisition often exceeds €28,000. Prototype manufacturing is an additional cost, ranging from €1,000 to €2,000 for a small production run.

  • Allow 4 to 8 weeks between the validated specifications and the first tested cards, including 2 to 3 weeks for manufacturing and assembly.

  • Yes. That's actually our policy: the same team designs the board and writes the firmware, which avoids back-and-forth between two providers when a bug lies at the hardware/software interface. But we can also work solely on the electronics side in collaboration with your own firmware developers, if you prefer.

  • We design by anticipating CEM constraints (ground planes, filtering, shielding, RF routing) and we prepare the technical documentation. The tests themselves are carried out in an accredited laboratory, which we help you select and prepare to minimize the risk of failure on the first attempt.

  • Yes, if the source code or at least the schematics are available. We start with a design review that identifies the roadblocks and estimates the cost of the rework.

  • We design for series of 50 to 50,000 units. The target volume changes the design trade-offs, so we discuss this from the very first exchange.
